Pumpkins and Petals - Garden Costume Party is an evening among friends and flowers, at the hour when the garden goes quiet and a little mysterious. It's the Saturday before Halloween, so come in costume, one you can cut flowers in. You'll wander the rows while the light is still gold, cut the darkest, moodiest blooms the beds will give you, and finish your pumpkin at a lantern-lit worktable.
Late October is the end of dahlia season, when the color turns deep and saturated, all burgundy and rust and bronze. This is a creative evening rather than a class, and we'll be right there with ideas and a hand whenever you want one. No experience needed. If you've never made anything with flowers in your life, this is the loveliest possible place to start.
Whether you're coming with friends, celebrating an occasion, or just giving yourself two quiet hours among the flowers, this is an evening made for slowing down. Space is limited to keep it intimate.
A note on the event: This is a working flower farm, so we cut what the garden is giving us that week. Dahlias are what you can count on, and any other blooms, foliage, and filler are a lovely bonus, subject to what's ready. The sun sets partway through the evening, so we cut while the light is still good and finish by lantern light, and it gets cool quickly once the sun is down, so dress warmly. Costumes are encouraged, as long as yours works with long sleeves, pants, and closed-toe shoes. The terrain is uneven, and it will be dark for the last stretch of the evening. Fall Centerpiece Workshop is a morning among friends and flowers at 22 Below in Salem. You'll settle in with a golden urn vase and an armful of fall foliage and flowers, with a professional florist right there to guide you. This is a creative morning rather than a class: there are no steps to follow, you build what you see, and we're close by with ideas, tips, and a gentle hand whenever you want one. The arrangement goes home with you, and so does everything you learn along the way, ready for every table you set after this one. And because nobody should arrange flowers on an empty stomach, your ticket comes with a croffle and a matcha of your choice.

Wreaths and Wine is an afternoon among friends, greens, and good wine at The Potter's Vineyard in Newberg. Your wreath starts with fresh cut Oregon pine. Pick the size that fits your door, layer your greens, and decorate with ribbons, ornaments, and holiday decor until it looks like yours, glass in hand. No experience needed. If you've never made a wreath in your life, this is the loveliest possible place to start.
The Potter's Vineyard is exactly the kind of place we love. Bill and Sandy Sanchez have been making small-batch, award-winning wine in the Chehalem Mountains since 2012, in a tasting room that doubles as a gallery of Bill's own pottery. Your ticket includes a glass of one of their award winners to sip while you build.

A note on the event: We'll be working under cover at the winery, so rain is no trouble at all, though December in the valley is cold and the walk in is gravel and uneven in places. The season ahead
We run small workshops through the season, and the garden decides most of the schedule. Dates go up here and on Instagram first.
The Saturday before Halloween in the garden. Cut the darkest, moodiest blooms the beds will give you, then finish your pumpkin at a lantern-lit worktable, in costume.
Build the centerpiece for your November table, guided by a florist and led by your own creativity. Your golden urn vase, a croffle, and a matcha are all included.
Build the wreath that goes on your own door from fresh cut Oregon pine, and decorate it with ribbons, ornaments, and holiday decor. Choose a small wreath for $65, a medium for $80, or a large for $95, and your ticket includes a glass of The Potter's Vineyard wine while you work. This event is 21 and over.

The garden hosts birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers and bachelorette parties, with the worktable set for your people and flowers cut that day. Tell us the date you are hoping for and what you are celebrating, and we will build the evening around it.
No experience needed for anyone in your group. If your people have never arranged a flower in their lives, this is the loveliest possible place to start.

Membership
Members get first pick of the events, the members-only U-pick days, and a standing reason to spend an evening in the garden. Every membership runs one year from the day you join.
Our story
Michael's grandparents have grown flowers on this property since before he was born. Daffodils, roses, tulips. In 2023 Brenda had the idea to turn it into a flower farm, and we started adding peonies, dahlias and zinnias to what was already here.
Drive past and you would never suspect there is a flower farm behind the house. That is the secret in Secret Garden Society.

The Flower Bench
Before there were workshops or memberships, there was a bench on the side of the road in front of the house, with buckets on it and whatever had been cut that morning.
The bench is still out there, and it is still the easiest way to take something home. Look for the pink house on SW Murdock.

Dahlias and zinnias from late July through October 31. Everything is cut by hand the day it goes out, so the colors change with the week. Order on Square.
